Thanksgiving Weekend

D and I spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with his family! And one of the best parts was stopping in Glenwood Springs to soak for a bit!

What binds us together...

It's been a week of catching up with old friends...cozy around kitchen tables, via RSVP cards, phone calls! With Thanksgiving creeping closer, my thoughts turn to one of my greatest blessings...friendships! Whether they span years, or are brand new created over a shared meal, I'm rich in friends.

Wish List

I have provided my mother with a wish list since the time I could write...although I still struggle with the legibly part. I wish I had them all, to see the transformation from barbies, to leggings and neon socks, to the collected works of Poe. This year my list would be composed of the following:

World Peace

For my plethora of side-business ideas...this year, webdesign!

Chico bags for everyone I know! Simply amazing!

An old bike that needs some new love!

Because I'm 12.....

I'll take the button and the smooches

Wind generator to get off the grid

Tights for staying warm

Christmas is coming...

...The geese are getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man's hat;
If you haven't got a penny, a ha' penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha' penny then God bless you!

I'm working on a database for a local charitable organization's Christmas gift drive. I'm equal parts heart-broken for the children who need so much, and heart-warmed by this community the pulls together to donate gifts during the holidays. I love that aspect of Christmas! The generosity and warmth and charitableness of people amazes me! It's my prayer tonight that this be our attitude year-round, not just during the holiday season. May our thoughts be for a fellow-man first, and ourselves second.

My last blog on this, I promise. I have also included results from the School Board race for School District #1.

2008 Election Results Continued

More maps! This time focusing on the Douglas precincts. Again, more graphs. I worked with some labeling, the functionality on this tool does leave a lot to be desired. They do add more information which is interesting and adds depth but I'd like to see more labeling available.

Elections 2008

Election day is here and gone. I feel a mixture of hope and excitement and worry. Change is always unsettling but very exciting all the same. The above maps are election results from Converse County. I played around with the chart symbology function as well as the chart tool for the first time. Both have limited functionality, but add an interesting dimension to the maps.

no end in sight

I just realized how endless this is...finally finished mapping parcel ownership for every township in the county...and I'm starting cycle two...! My supervisor says it's job security... *sigh*

now move from plank to down dog....

I found the most amazing yoga group in Douglas. It's this crazy eclectic group of folks who meet Monday nights at a local church. We do yoga in the foyer, with the last light of day streaming through stained glass. It is the definition of serenity. Mostly made up of some of our matured population, I am completely humbled as these folks in their 80's flow through poses I struggle with. For $2.00 it is a Monday evening bargain break from an already hectic week.
